Project’s main objectives and results:
An underlying theme in a significant number of high-profile corruption cases in Kenya is the use of shell companies as avenues for obtaining Government contracts through biased or unbiased tendering processes. Losses are estimated to cost central government $6 billion per year. InfoNET develops a Kenya Beneficial Ownership Registry Portal, holding data on tenders awarded for infrastructure developments in Nairobi, Kwale/Isiolo counties, linking them to awarded company’s ownership/directorship.
